Lynum and her husband were given a jar containing 936 pennies at one of their son’s dedication—the pennies represents the number of weeks they would have to raise this child until his 18th birthday. Each week one penny was to be removed as a reminder of the reality that there is a time limit in raising children, and that they had a responsibility to use this time prudently as children are an investment.
Topics covered in the 10 chapters include teachable moments, prioritizing, and what to do when the kids are grown. Hopefully when the jar is empty, those who practiced intentional parenting will feel they have equipped their children well.
