Pilgrimage of a Soul is a manifesto for Christian contemplative spirituality. Set against the backdrop of her and her husband’s “unconditioned” spiritual pilgrimage to El Camino de Santiago in Spain, Heuertz unpacks the journey in spiritual terms for those seeking a deeper, more meaningful walk with God.

Readers will feel the pain of her hike and identify with the spiritual lessons she brings forth along the way, especially the grace that kept her moving forward. The author is an advocate for mutuality (as opposed to subjugation) in male/female relationships stating, “mutuality between anyone, regardless of gender, is redemptive.” She is also a proponent of contemplative prayer, which “disciplines our soul to be attentive to God.”

Heuertz does a fine job of defining these terms, which are sure to be new to most readers. Recommend to a female audience.
