Soul Force is a how-to book for leaders—especially community leaders—who are working toward positive transformation. Based on the teachings of Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, and Jesus, this is a model for making an adjustment in the course you’re on toward growth and affirmative change.
This course adjustment is referred to as a pivot. The authors have identified seven pivot points, with a chapter devoted to each: From Fear to Freedom; Barriers to Bridge Building; Self-centeredness to Solidarity; Hurt to Hope; Consuming to Creating; Charity to Change; and Maintenance to Movement. The intended outcome of these pivots is to “unleash creative energy within us toward courage, community and change.”
At the end of each chapter is an empowering story, application points, and a prayer to really drive the pivot home. Soul Force may inspire leaders personally and equip them for their mission.
